About

Life is full of turns and twists. We are born, we grow, we age, we die... all too soon. May I awaken to life, may I meet the challenges with courage and may my heart never harden.

TEN MOONS YOGA is born...

In 2002 I left my home and my career as an actress in Mexico, to embark on a new adventure with my husband and two very young children. Within a few months, Yoga became my home, and it has opened one door after the other in this crazy passing of time we call life. I never married a Style or adopted a guru. I like to move in a way that allows me to honor my body today, in a way that I am challenged, that takes me out of my comfort zone but that is also nourishing. I like to explore new possibilities, different rhythms and intensities and I love to JUST MOVE!!

I was born and raised in Mexico City. Most of what I know about movement I learned in my living roomand backyard with my sisters and friends. We would often hold either dancing or wrestling contests. I grew up roller skating, skateboarding, climbing trees, swimming,  dancing ballet and rock and roll.  My body became my "tool" as I became a professional actress, my "temple" as I began to study Yoga. I began to formally study and teach Yoga in 2004, and I continue to be a curious student willing to share what I am learning on the path.

After almost 20 years of life in Miami, in 2019 I relocated to Durham, NC in search of a more gentle pace.

In 2017 I gave birth to this virtual space to share with you what's cooking... classes, workshops, thoughts, testimonials. I look forward to connecting with you not just virtually but in the real world (eventually).

MY TEACHERS

I honor and I am grateful for all the amazing teachers that have offered all their knowledge with generosity and enthusiasm.  Natalie Morales (funyasa.com), a mentor and a friend, the amazing Shiva Rea,  Vinyasa Flow Goddess, whom I have followed by DVD, online, on CD and also have had the honor of training with her personally,  Karen Prior from Mamaste Yoga, to whom I owe so much of what I know about Prenatal and Postnatal Yoga, Buddhist teachers Ani Pema Chodron and Master Thich Nhat Hahn, whom I have followed for over ten years, hoping sometime I will finally GET IT, my yoga and meditation teacher (gone too soon) Michael Stone,  the amazing Penny Simkin, founder of DONA (Doulas of North America) who has contributed enormously to birthing with compassion, Active Birth's Janet Balaskas and Jill Benjoya Miller . I vow to all of them with respect and gratitude, and I vow as well to all the amazing students and friends, mothers and fathers, with whom I have crossed paths.
